I too grew up in a musical family. Both sisters played piano and sang, one with the San Francisco orchestra. My other sister sings with Custom Neon from time to time. My formal piano days were limited (now limited to dabbling!) and soon drums became my instrument of choice. I saved up money in high school (scooping ice cream) and purchased my first drum kit (an improvement over couches, pots and pans). After a few lessons from a buddy, I began to figure them out. I had many fun, spontaneous jam sessions throughout high school and college with several talented friends. We played classic rock, hard rock, and unclassified rock In college I played in band (“The Locals”, Davis CA) for awhile. While I still “thought” drums and sometimes played them, my kit collected dust and aged for several years, until I received a call from Chris S, a fellow environmental consultant and musician. He was “looking for a drummer” to jam with a small group of music enthusiasts; a group that is now Custom Neon. I enjoy playing with Custom Neon, beating the drums and singing some songs as well. Over the years we have developed friendships and have learned to read each other musically quite well. We roll with the punches and keep the music pumping. There is nothing more satisfying for me than getting into the groove, looking out into the crowd, and seeing happy faces and dancin’ rockin’ fans.
