Eric

I began playing drums and percussion in high school, drumming for bands with names such as Ulterior Motive and Anorexia & the Stickmen, before “going pro” in 1985. Then,  I joined the Davis-based rock ’n’ roll dance band Cold Shot where,  for the next 12 years,  we played clubs, weddings, corporate parties, and the occasional poolside barbeque and municipal community party.   With like-minded friends,  I was an original member of  The Ultraviolets, a multi-SAMMIES (Sacramento Area Music Awards)  winning,  guitar-based,  pop-rock-folk-alternative amalgam.

In 1998,  I returned to school to prepare for a career in the real world,  and by necessity, music took a back seat, and I gave up performing.

In mid-2009,  Custom Neon invited me to fill the percussionist role beside Pete –  spicing up the tunes with bongos,  shakers, and a tambourine.  Pete and I have been known to change chairs for a song or two, and rumors abound that I might even pick up the bass guitar for a few songs this year while letting Dave express his prodigious trombone skills!

My drumming influences include Prairie Prince (The Tubes),  Terry Bozzio (Missing Persons, Frank Zappa), Simon Phillips, and Bruce Gary (The Knack) – not that I can play like any of them!  Other bands I’m into include The Beatles (obviously),  The Who,  XTC,  Dave Matthews Band, and  Camper Van Beethoven.
