Although I started my musical career in jazz, I really like all kinds of music.  I was lucky to grow up in a musical family—my mom, dad and sister all studied classical piano and still sing in various choral groups. After a few years of piano lessons, I switched to trombone and took it pretty far, playing in numerous jazz ensembles with some big names.

Like anyone growing up in the 60’s and 70’s, I listened to what is now “classic rock.”  Now that I get to perform these songs, I really appreciate how good that vein of music is, and how lucky we were to be a part of it growing up. Even my kids like this stuff!

My wife surprised me with my first guitar, and I taught myself to play rock and folk songs. In the late 90’s, my long time musical buddy Chris and I got together again, jamming with friends in the living room, and eventually Custom Neon was born.  We needed a bass player, so I gave it a try. As for singing, I just sort of open my mouth and try to sound like some rock star--don’t you?
